DkIT announces fully funded Two-Year MSc Enterprise Studentship

DkIT is delighted to announce that applications are now welcome for a fully funded two-year MSc Studentship with NetwellCASALA at Dundalk Institute of Technology.



Applications are invited for a fully-funded two year MSc Studentship with NetwellCASALA at Dundalk Institute of Technology which will be supported by Home Instead Senior Care. Successful applicants will be registered as full-time postgraduate research students in the DCU-DkIT Graduate School.

Each MSc position will be located on the DkIT campus and the MSc Degree will be awarded by Dublin City University.

Background:

A recent report from the ESRI, “Projections of Demand for Healthcare in Ireland 2015 – 2030” suggests demand for home care will increase by 50% over the next decade. Given population ageing and increasing rates of chronic disease and dementias, the need for home healthcare support has never been greater. There is a need for a range of measures to build a care sector that is sustainable and delivers quality care alongside decent working environments and conditions.

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) is one of the leading research-intensive Institutes of Technology with over €55M in research funding secured across its prioritised research areas of Health, Ageing, ICT, Energy, Environment and Creative Arts domains with an emphasis on excellence and impact. One strategic goal of the institute is to enhance its responsiveness to regional enterprise needs through ongoing research collaboration with local and regional business and industry.

Within the recently launched Institute for Connected Health, NetwellCASALA Research Centre at Dundalk Institute of Technology, in partnership with Home Instead Senior Care, are offering an Enterprise Studentship focussed on the rapidly expanding and essential provision of home-based health care services.

Funding:

Each successful candidate shall receive a postgraduate stipend of €16,000 per annum, plus fees and a contribution to their direct research project costs. The duration of each MSc studentship is 2 years. Candidates may also have an opportunity to submit for an extension of their research project and application for transfer to the PhD register, if PhD funding has been secured.   • Candidates should hold, or expect to hold a 1st or 2.1 honours degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline to the project of interest.
